Born near a change of sign?
The Sun changes tropical signs at a particular instant, not at midnight on a fixed birthday. The year, birth time and historical time zone can therefore matter near a boundary. For example, a person born on 20 March should not rely on a generic Pisces–Aries table alone. Use the birth-date calculator to check possible signs; if it returns two, enter the precise birth details in the Sun, Moon and rising tool.
Tropical signs are not constellation boundaries
This table uses the tropical zodiac: twelve equal sectors of 30 degrees, starting at the March equinox. Astronomical constellations have unequal boundaries. Sidereal astrology uses a different reference, so a result from another system may differ without indicating an arithmetic mistake. Compare the convention before comparing the answer.
Can I have two Sun signs?
Within one specified zodiac system, the calculated Sun position belongs to one sector at a given instant. Two possibilities in a date-only calculator mean that the birth information is incomplete; they do not establish a blended personality or two simultaneous Sun positions.
Does a leap year change my sign?
Leap days help keep the calendar aligned with the seasons, but there is no rule that every leap-year birthday moves to another sign. Calculate the actual date and time. A table also cannot give your Moon sign or ascendant, which require different calculations.
